This was relatively easy to install and worked well. The directions could be a little more detailed though. You need to make a hole in the bottom of your taillight compartment big enough for the 4 wire plug to pass through.The directions don't tell you this. I recommend a grommet and/or protective conduit (not included) over the wires that run under the vehicle. For someone with average mechanical ability I would say this is a 1.5 - 2.5 hour job, depending on how careful and detailed you want to get running the under vehicle wires and the main feed from the battery.
You will need to get the whole vehicle up on jackstands to run the power feed to the back end. Yow will also want a drill with a hole saw or bit big enough to drill a hole for the 4 wire plug below the left rear tail light. Time spent to protect the wires from sharp metal edges will help prevent shorts. So basically, just good electrical comon sense and this should last a long time. If you do a quick, sloppy install it will probably fry within a year or 2 like the previous unit that was on my Windstar!
